Child Care Assistance Program

Are you struggling with child care expenses? If so, the child care assistance program may be able to help you.

The child care assistance program's main office is located in Juneau; however, we serve several clients in the communities of Ketchikan, Petersburg, Craig, Klawock, Thorne Bay and Hoonah. The child care assistance program aids low to medium income families with the cost of child care as they work or participate in approved education or training programs. The goal of the program is to ensure that safe, healthy, quality child care is affordable and accessible to all of Alaska's children and families.

The child care assistance program also approves relative and non-relative providers to provide child care out of their home. Approved and approved relative providers may care for no more than a total of five children under 12 years of age, including their own children. Of those five children:

•  No more than four children may be unrelated to the approved provider. 

•  No more than two children may be under 30 months of age.
